The choice of using pairs of characters is to easily express a power dynamic between the desperate “bad” character juxtaposed to the calm and collective nature of the “good” character. The pairings shown in episode 1 include Sylvester/Speedy Gonzales, Sylvester/Tweety Bird, Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck, and finally Wile E Coyote/Road Runner. All the shorts lack substantial plot and rely more on interesting visuals and simple rivalry dynamics in interesting and varying locales. The first story and paring we delve into is a pairing between Sylvester the cat and the mouse Speedy Gonzales in which the plot amounts to nothing more than cartoon high jinxs and expression of competition.
